GBYP Selected as Community Partner for Downtown Brockton’s MassDevelopment TDI Application
Greater Brockton Young Professionals (GBYP) is proud to share that we have been selected as a community partner in Brockton’s application to the MassDevelopment Transformative Development Initiative (TDI), a statewide program focused on advancing downtown revitalization and long-term economic development.
The application is being led by the Old Colony Planning Council (OCPC) in close collaboration with the City of Brockton and a broad coalition of community organizations, including Black Owned Brockton, NeighborWorks, the Downtown Brockton Business Association, Brockton Neighborhood Health Center, and others. Applicants for the TDI program are expected to be selected in February.
If awarded, the designation would bring a TDI Fellow back to Brockton, providing dedicated capacity to support downtown economic development, partnership building, and implementation of revitalization strategies.
A Proven Model for Downtown Impact
Brockton was last selected for a TDI Fellow in 2014, a period that helped catalyze significant downtown revitalization efforts and laid groundwork for many of the initiatives and investments seen in the city today. The TDI program has consistently proven to be a powerful tool for cities seeking focused, place-based economic development support.
A Full-Circle Moment for GBYP
For GBYP, this opportunity carries special significance. Brockton’s first TDI Fellow, George Durante, was also one of the founders of Greater Brockton Young Professionals. His work helped shape both downtown Brockton’s revitalization efforts and the early vision of GBYP as a connector between civic leadership, young professionals, and community-driven growth.
To be involved in Brockton’s next potential chapter of TDI-supported development is both meaningful and energizing for our organization.
Looking Ahead
GBYP is honored to play a role in the City’s next phase of economic development and to contribute our network, perspective, and energy to this collaborative effort. We believe that strong partnerships and inclusive leadership are essential to Brockton’s continued growth — and we’re excited about what lies ahead.
We look forward to updates on the TDI application in the coming months and remain committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen Brockton’s downtown and broader community.
